Home Care Co-operative
This scheme was put in place to establish businesses which offered home care services to people in the Objective 2 eligible areas of Tower Hamlets, e.g. the elderly, people with disabilities, and people with learning difficulties. The key objective of the project was to promote and support the establishment of financially viable voluntary sector based home care businesses which were staffed by local people and serving the needs of the local community. The project worked with individuals, groups and existing voluntary and community organisations. The key areas of work included; a) a training needs assessment of each organisation b) a specific business skills training course devised and delivered to meet the linguistic and other needs of the local community, c) Home care skills training, and d) Business development advice and support.
Business Forum
The local borough found that there were a number of well-known businesses in a prominent area, however there was not one single forum that provided holistic business support or services for them. We were engaged to develop an umbrella organisation in the shape of a business forum to encourage companies to put forward their ideas for business development. By forming a business forum the private sector had a unified voice by which to consult and lobby organisations like the Police, Local Authorities and other key partner organisations. We also recruited a co-ordinator to work with the many different businesses to not only act as an information resource but also to provide networking opportunities. |
