The scheme involved a partnership between The Police, Victim Support and the local authority to tackle the rate of domestic burglaries in and around Corporation Street area. The key areas of the scheme involved a survey of the properties and identification of those properties which were most at risk from burglaries.  A detailed specification was then drawn up to provide various anti-burglary devices and/or strengthen existing doors/windows of the properties, through a grants programme.  Providing costs for essential safety/security works for the most vulnerable people on the estate which included pensioners or those people who had been burgled over the past twelve months.  The remainder of the properties which were prioritised were those households which were on benefit and were seen to have the greatest need according to their location.
